The spring bird migration is in full swing! There are birds everywhere with improved weather conditions. Brockway Mountain Drive is fully accessible by car from both sides. Copper Harbor is buzzing (and singing and twittering and calling).

7:00 pm - Manitou Island & Isle Royale Bird Surveys with Joseph Youngman This presentation will feature an update to the long running Manitou Island Bird Survey as well as the newest water bird study on Passage Island, Isle Royale National Park. Along with new data and interesting findings, Joe will share many beautiful images of the islands.

7:00 am - Birds and Bugs Field Trip: Estivant Pines Nature Sanctuary Join Joseph Youngman and Lynn Murphy for a fun and interesting trip through the Estivant Pines. A Michigan Nature Association event.
Meet at the E Pines trailhead. To get there, follow US 41 north to the blinking light at Copper Harbor and turn right, go 4 blocks and turn right on 2nd Street at the Community Center and sign for Lake Manganese. Follow 2nd Street (also called Manganese Road) for 1.2 miles, bearing left onto Clark Mine Road (dirt road). Travel 1.2 miles and turn right by the pond and then a quick right onto Burma Road. Travel another .65 miles to the trailhead and parking area.

Join Fort Wilkins Historic State Park on Memorial Day to commemorate U.S. Soldiers who have died while in Military Service. The event will occur on the parade grounds and will include a memorial day address, musical tribute by Mel Jones, program from the Copper harbor School children and the presentation of colors by the Marine Corps League. Refreshments to follow program. For more information please call Fort Wilkins Historical State Park at (906)289-4215.
